Beach and Tide Conditions
Kitesurfing conditions
do not depend on Tide
on this spot.
Bali / Kuta Reef, Indonesia is a
Shallow and Medium waves spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Medium size.
With higher tides you can start the best from the beach between the Hard Rock Hotel and the Discovery Shopping Mall. Access to this beach is from the Kuta Art markets. This beach is very wide, with lots of room for launching and landing your kite. The raining season brings a lots of garbage and drift wood on this beach though.
Inside the lagoon you can kiteboard with every tide. The lower the tide the less choppy and flatter the water will be. On the famous surf reef, Kuta Reef, just 500m out, the best tides are medium to high tides. With low tides there are some rocks (nearly) exposed, so watch out for that. Kuta Reef is a lefthander, just like Middles and Airports Left which are all on the same stretch of reef. Depending on the tides and wind direction the quality of the wave changes. But keep in mind these are still Bali style waves!

Don't get too close to the airport. Always make sure to keep paying attention to certain weather changes. The raining season can bring unpredictable weather. With medium tides and low tides you can start directly in front of Kuta Reef, at the beach in front of the Bali Hai Resort in Tuban. This beach is not very big, therefore we don't start from here with the higher tides!
