Gran Canaria / Playa del Hombre, Canary Islands is a
Medium waves spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Medium size.
Sand beach about 300m long and 70m wide. Beach surrounded by cliffs, in downwind direction there are no more beaches that you can go out of the water with out a lot of troubles if something goes wrong especially dangerous with waves. You have to be good in going upwind because if not you end at the rocks of the right side. When not staying upwind, go to the open ocean and the wind is better there.
It's a wave spot. In summer and with low tide not so big waves. Always respect the surfers, they are usually at the right side of the beach near the cliff and if you can go upwind quickly you should not bother them. Sometimes strong currents.

It's a beach for kite experts only, you need to be very good going upwind. If not, you will end at the right side on cliffs. Always try to sail to the left to leave enough room to come back to the beach if something goes wrong. Only in summer there is a possibility for rescue from Melenara Red Cross but only if you call emergency 112 and they could be there in 15 minutes if everything goes ok. It's a surfing spot you have to be very kind with them. Usually they only surf when the tide is high and for kitesurf it's easy going with low tide.
