How to get there
Easiest is a rental car. Follow the signs to the Outer Banks from Norfolk (route 168S and then 158S). Then take route 12 south all the way down and get to Hatteras. Get to the ferry docks and access the beach on the ocean-side with 4-wheel drive. Normal cars can park close by.
