How to get there
Drive from Hamburg to the Danish border on the A7. Take the exit to Flensburg. Follow the highway, take the exit `Flensburg Mitte` and then you are on the B199. Follow this street in direction `Kappeln`. You drive on till you get to the outskirts of Flensburg. Just after it there is a signpost to Gluecksburg. Drive on to Gluecksburg. Get through the hole little city, staying on the main road. Somewhere along the way there will be a signport to Holnis/Schaussende. Follow it onto the pensinsula Holnis. There is a parking (take the second parking!) next to the beach so you only have to walk a few metres (5m). Parking fees apply. If you park about 100m further away, you have free parking.

Holnis, Germany is a
Shallow and Chop spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Small size.
1.5km long, sandy beach. Kitesurfing is allowed to the left (facing the water) of the mole. To the South it`s only allowed to swim. The beach in the north is max. 10m wide. Enough space to launch, but in summer there can be a lot tourists who can cause trouble. There is a mole in the North.
Shallow for about 80-100m from the beach. There are a few sandbars and if it`s blows a little bit more there will be a little shore break of about 0.5-1m, just 50m away from shore. If the wind blows heavy first from East but turns next day to West and in combination with the moon it could be that the water goes away and will be too shallow.

Special zone for kitesurfers marked with signs and buoys on the water. Launch your kite on the beach and walk into the water, at least one line length, then you can take off. You should be able to stay upwind to get away from the swimmer's zone. Always stay at least 50m away from the beach. Do not kite closer than 50m to swimmers. Don't kite in the swimmer's zone. Don't drop your kite on the beach. The swim season is from May to September, outside the season you can kite everywhere.
