Beach and Tide Conditions
Kitesurfing conditions
do not depend on Tide
on this spot.
Kyushu / Momochi, Japan is a
Flat spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Medium size.
Nice and soft sand beach. Plenty of space to launch. The beach is actually split into three separated sections: one for jet ski and boat, one for swimmer and one for other activities. Make sure to kite in the correct area only.::: I think this last note is outdated. I could find no information that limited activity at any beach. Also, a park employee watched me rig and launch at the east beach and said nothing. That said, this beach really isn't worthwhile, at least in light winds. Maybe if the wind is 15 knots? There's a large beach on the isthmus north of town that looks considerably better. Probably a long drive to get there though...
Usually clear water. Almost perfectly flat. Small tide. Wind must be NW to NNE for this spot to work. Even then, the wind seems to lift over the city as it approaches the beach. The wind is significantly less than reported at the airport or in the city. With wind steady at 12 mph atthe airport I was getting lulls down to 5 mph at the beach.
