There is a small patch of rocks on the shore line, half way along the beach but they are very visible and not in the general kiting area. Several shark buoys off shore but they are also very visible.
Ocean chop combined with a tidal creek that can have a fair current with large tides. Long open beaches with easy access.

Restricted Zone; There is a flagged swimmers area patrolled by Surf Lifesavers at Tannum main beach, which is a no go zone for kiteboarders. Helmet, leash and vest recommended. Some local kiters are members of AKSA. All visiting kiters are very welcome. Other kiting areas close by are Canoe Point and Lilleys Beach. Canoe Point is a public beach and Lilleys Beach requires a permit from the local council; $25 per year or $5 per week.
