How to get there
Head for Dover, then southeast and then pick up signs for Sandwich. The beach is approached through a private estate, cars cost £3-5 but this keeps people down. Car parks are plenty, but beware shingle may trap cars.

Works on N, S ,NE, SE, E wind. Offers a beach when the prevailing SW/W winds are not about. Suffers early morning and evening glass offs.

At high tide it's a rough shingle beach which goes to soft sand 2 hours after high tide. The beach runs north/south and is 2km long (north end restricted as it's a bird sanctuary). Low tide unlimited space and no crowds, high tide good space but some spiny plants.
The water is generally flat with lots of space. At high tide the water is deep, but 2 hours after high tide it's shallow to the horizon.
