Beach and Tide Conditions
Kitesurfing conditions do not depend on Tide on this spot.
Sun Island, Maldives is a Shallow, Flat and Chop spot.
The launching/landing area is reported to be of Small size.
The beach has very white and smooth sand - just beautiful. There are corals around the island, but at the main water sports area it is no problem. If you have problems going upwind, I recommend wearing shoes, since the big reef is not too far away. At the east beach of Sun Island at the Nautic station you have an excellent beach with lost of space to launch and land the kite. The beach is never that packed, only few people around. And on the water it is normally very empty.
A huge shallow lagoon, where you can almost stand everywhere. At the south side of the island and its lagoon is a big reef, which is the end of that atoll. The water is flat and can be a bit choppy when the wind is stronger, but still very nice riding. Maldives have a tide, but the lagoon at the nautical center will always be deep enough for windsurfing as well.
