Beach and Tide Conditions
Vancouver Island / Island View Beach, Canada is a
Small waves spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Medium size.
Nice grassy area to rig and launch. Watch out for power lines right beside grassy area. Mix of sand, pebbles, rocks and logs. If it is really windy launch is a bit dangerous as you have to walk from grassy area over logs/debris to get to the water. The launch can be very slippery when the field is wet.
Very cold water, large debris, ocean shore break. Lots of seaweed and kelp at times. Wave and chop with shorebreak. Can be nice waves in strong conditions (25kts+). Usually side onshore waves 1-4ft, short period. Watch out for the current.

No rules or regulations, probably the easiest spot near Victoria to kitesurf. Wear a leash as the current can be pretty strong. (I've spent 15 minutes body dragging for my board and only gained a meter or two till finally someone brought me my board).
