How to get there

Follow this straight until you hit Del Playa, which runs parallel to the ocean. Turn right and continue until Del Playa ends. Park here and walk down stairs to the beach.

2-4 mm wetsuit in winter, less in summer, shorty or rashguard.
Generally sideonshore and either 20+ or not at all. Sporadic wind in the winter, but when it blows, it's awesome.

Beach and Tide Conditions
Isla Vista, California (USA) is a
Flat, Chop and Small waves spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Small size.
Narrow beach, and the wind sucks on the inside due to cliffs. It's best to get out as fast as possible. Not a beginner launch. Not for sand dragging or body dragging. Landing is very hard alone: stand in waist high water and try to land on the beach without hitting the cliff with your kite. It's worth it for the water conditions, if it's windy though.
Water is smooth due to a kelp bed about 500m offshore. Waves are glassy, but not too large, waist high at best.
