Beach and Tide Conditions
Santa Monica, California (USA) is a
Chop, Small waves and Medium waves spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Big size.
The kitebeach is located between the tower 28 and 29, at the junction between Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Because of the heavy crowds during the summer and on weekends, lifeguards have SOLE discretion on allowing you to kite, no matter how windy it is. Always ask them before setting up! If you disregard their orders, they will call the cops on you. Stay way clear people (two kite line lengths) when setting up and launching, also of swimmers once you launch off the beach. When kiting, stay outside of the surf zone. Do not show off by doing jumps near the shoreline, this is the fastest way to see yourself in handcuffs and down at the SM jail.
Pretty choppy water and expect a current that will also make hard to generate speed if your underpowered.
